Disassembly

Here's the start of the disassembly of the Motorola H500 BlueTooth headset and this is where you're most likely to damage the case if you're not careful. First insert a thin blade screwdriver underneath the rounded section of the silver insert as shown in the photograph. You'll need to carefully pry up. There's at tab underneath holding down the cover. You need to pry pretty hard to get the tab to come loose. Look at the next picture if you're unclearn.

Here you can see the cover removed with the 3 tabs identified that hold the cover on. You need to pry hard enough to pop the tab under the rounded portion loose and then slide the cover toward the back of the ear-piece to get the rear 2 tabs to disengage.

With the cover off you now have access to the 3 screws that hold the rest of the cover on. One central screw underneath the silver Motorola emblem (it's just held in with double-sided tape) and two screws that were on the rear of the head-set underneath the cover you just pryed up.

With the screws out, it's easy to remove the rest of the plastic cover and expose the circuit board. If you've come this far remember to stick all the loose bits into a container where you don't lose them!

You should be able at this point to flip the circuit board out. In this picture, the microphone is inside the white plastic enclosure on the left. The speaker is still inside the center of the bottom case. The large (that's relative!) silver square on the bottom of the circuit board is the battery, with the USB connector hanging out on the far right. Interesting parkings on the battery such as Model: Artemis H500 Software version Beta_28.1 Great, I've got beta software. No wonder I've had the dred 'clicking' problem when talking in this headset. Wonder if 'Artemis' is Artemis Wireless Werks in Austin, TX?

Close-up of the circuit board. Note the grounded soft copper foil EMI shield over the main IC. Other interesting thing is what's marked as TP11, looks like some kind of interface connector. Anyone have an idea of the pinout?
