Here's one of those really tiny phone chargers. Took it apart while investigating various power supply options for the AVRSwitch project. Check out the TinySwitch-II family of parts from Power Integrations. That’s a TNY266PN in the middle left below picture. Very small 5W-15W power supplies are possible.
